The owner, Curtis Flanagan, said he started this project because he loves working with entrepreneurs. The original concept was for an online shop for local crafters, but it quickly expanded to a brick-and-mortar store. His father had an unused part of a warehouse so Flanagan jumped on the idea and started the store.
There was 20 vendors at the very beginning, but the number grew to over 60 local entrepreneurs quickly. “Week by week, it just grew and grew”.
About The Famous Owner
Curtis Flanagan
With a background in retail management and the commercial food service equipment industry, Curtis has always loved working with entrepreneurs. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he had some friends that started crafting when everything was shut down and now looking for a space to sell their items. This sparked the idea for the market you all know about now. After hearing about The Acorn Studio’s from his vendor, Curtis contacted the owner which is now a friend & great partner in this project.
The store grew from 20 to over 60 in no time, with the addition of the outdoor market. With plenty of ideas in the back of the head, more projects are on the way and soon will see the light!
The partnership with
The Acorn Studio
With a passion for art & a watercolor artist for over 15 years, Mathieu opened The Acorn Studio art & gift store gallery in December 2019. He managed to keep it alive until April 2021, where he made the tough decision to move solely online. Without the physical store to maintain, Mathieu moved on to building an outdoor market in Moncton, but had to cancel it due to the restriction of COVID.
It’s only mid-May that Curtis messaged him, soon to find out they both had the same goals in life. This meeting quickly grew into a friendship. Both lovers of the art & craft community, they are working hard to bring to the community a new light with many new opportunities.
